In , we convened more than leaders from all over Minnesota and created a strategic, cross-sector plan to combat child sex trafficking. MN Girls Are Not For Sale, our eight year, $8 million campaign, launched in November to end sex trafficking in Minnesota through grantmaking, research, public education, and policy change. On Monday, January 1, , Georgia’s New Child Support Guidelines became effective. Under the old guidelines, child support in Georgia was based primarily upon a percentage of the non-custodial parent’s gross income. Under the new guidelines, the income or earning capacity of both parents will be used to allocate each parent’s responsibility for a child’s expenses.

As a result of the federal Child Support Enforcement Act of , each state has enacted a set of statutory guidelines for the calculation of child support. These vary from state to state, but they all provide some formula, or method, for calculating an appropriate award of child support, taking into account the child’s needs and the parents. Reports of child abuse incidents should be made to either law enforcement agencies (the police) or child protective services. The report should include important information such as the child’s name, the children’s parents and address, the child’s age, the name of the person who committed the abuse, and the nature and extent of the child.

In May,the Minnesota Legislature passed a bill which made significant changes to Minnesota’s existing child support laws and introduced new child support guidelines. Laws of Minnesotachapterbecame effective on January 1, for new child support cases.
